Türkiye | DCP, Color, 88’ | Turkish

Director: Umut Subaşı
Cast: Melis Sevinç, Melisa Bostancıoğlu, İbrahim Arıcı

The film centers on four young characters living in Istanbul amidst unemployment and social disconnection. As Zeynep, one of the characters, mentions in her diary, their troubles may seem like a "slight disaster" compared to those of the world, but these young people cry at night. From astrology to the lottery, from job interviews to visa applications, the future of this generation seems to depend on chance and coincidence. Formal elements such as the film's mise-en-scène and soundtrack also reflect the dual lives of the characters. Umut Subaşı's debut feature film, which had its world premiere at the Rotterdam Film Festival, depicts today's uncertain and complex state of mind with a humorous touch that abstains from melodrama.

This film can be viewed on January 11, 13.00 & January 14, 13.00.
