Finsterworld

Finsterworld

Finsterworld, 2013

Director: Frauke Finsterwalder

Color, 91', Bluray
Premiering in last year’s Munich Film Festival, "Finsterworld" is the first feature film of Frauke Finsterwalder. Making the festival circuit during the past year and taking along several awards, the film uses a rich gallery of characters played by well-known faces of German cinema to examine the country’s past and present-day. With her unique gaze, Finsterwalder paints a portrait of Germany as funny as it is dramatic, as she explores the love/hate relationship of the Germans both with their motherland and their national identity. Finsterwalder's husband Christian Kracht, the Swiss writer whose books have also been published in Turkey, has a hand in the film’s screenplay.
