This year, one of the episodes of the cult German TV series Polizeiruf 110 was directed by Christian Petzold, a leading director in recent German cinema. In this crime series, which has been broadcast since 1971, each episode treats of a separate case and different inspectors alternate in the lead role. In Circles, both directed and written by Petzold, we watch Hanns von Meuffels, a police inspector from Munich, as he tries to solve a murder case. A woman’s body buried under a pile of leaves in the woods, as if they wanted it to be discovered as quickly as possible... Lying right next to her is her dog, killed just like the victim. The melancholy familiar to us from Petzold’s feature films also prevails in Cirlces. This television drama, which earned much critical acclaim in Germany, will have its first Turkish screening in the “Brand New Films from Germany” selection.
