Director: Jonas Mekas

Cast: Peter Kubelka, Annette Michelson, Daniel Rogosin

Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania, in which Jonas Mekas portrays, through a personal cinematic language, such dilemmas as, to want but not be able to do, to miss but not be able to see, or to exist without being able to belong to, chronicles the journey he makes to his homeland 25 years after leaving because of WWII. In this 1972 film by Mekas, one of the pioneers of film/video journal, we witness his reminiscences through his 8mm camera and his narration. “If you live through what I’ve lived through–wars, occupations, genocides, concentration camps–you can’t understand people. I can’t understand people ever since. That’s why I record images. I record everything as I see them, without any judgment.” — Jonas Mekas
